STEM & FIB
Zhennan received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Illinois at Chicago and conducted postdoctoral research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and University of Maryland, College Park. He has over ten years of research experience with advanced electron microscopy, applying In-situ and Cryo (S)TEM techniques to elucidate atomic-scale structure–property relationships in energy storage materials, heterogeneous catalysts, and soft materials.
He joined SMIF in 2024 and serves as the STEM and FIB Manager. He is the primary contact for the JEOL GrandARM2 40–300 kV Cold FEG (S)TEM and the Thermo Fisher Helios 5 CX DualBeam FIB-SEM.
