TEM & FIB
Lydia is a TEM & FIB Lab Manager at SMIF. She joined SMIF in 2023 and primarily provides services and training on transmission electron microscopy (TEM), cryo-TEM, and focused ion beam (FIB) techniques for materials and biological samples. Lydia serves as the primary contact for the FEI Tecnai G² Twin 200kV TEM. She is the secondary contact for the JEOL Grand Arm2 300kV atomic resolution STEM and the Thermo Fisher Krios G2i 300kV cryo-TEM, Tundra 100kV cryo-TEM, and C-Helios 5 CX FIB-SEM instruments.
Lydia received her M.S. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University and B.S. in Chemistry from the University of North Georgia, where her research focused on developing materials and sensors for environmental and health applications. She now specializes in electron microscopy techniques, with over 7 years of experience in EM sample preparation and characterization.
